Driving & Weather Information

Driving Directions
Some tips to help you get to the festival grounds, and some other information on things to do in Milwaukee while you are visiting.

Directions to LFOA
The Lakefront Festival of Arts is held in front of Milwaukee Art Museum along Lincoln Memorial Drive, easily accessible from downtown Milwaukee. From downtown, follow I-794 east and exit at Lincoln Memorial Drive (exit #1F). It is a one-way northbound road. Follow Lincoln Memorial Drive about 1/8 mile and you will see the Art Museum building on the right.

Festival parking will be available off of Lagoon Drive - just follow the signs! A continuously running tram system will be available to get people from the parking area to the front of the museum where the festival will be held. There will be also limited parking available in the lots adjacent to the Museum.

For information on visiting Milwaukee, try the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau. To book a hotel room, click here.

For city guides, try the Digital City: Milwaukee site or OnMilwaukee.com. For a truly comprehensive listing of everything Milwaukee, check out Milwaukee Blue.

And of course, don't forget to visit the Milwaukee Art Museum web site!

Also, before you plan your drive, you may want to check out the Wisconsin Department of Transportation web site for information on summer freeway construction, alternate routes, and live camera views of the key traffic spots.

Need to get around the city, but you are not driving? You may want to check out this website, appropriately named Milwaukee without a car. It has links to all the public transportation sites, including the Milwaukee County Transit System which has a major terminus for several routes at the Firstar building - about 4 blocks from the festival grounds.

Additionally, you can take a trolley!

Weather
The Weather Channel's weather.com or the Weather Underground's wunderground.com will give you the Milwaukee weather, or visit the local paper for state-wide weather information. On hot summer days, our lakefront catches a soothing breeze from Lake Michigan, so out-of-towners, remember, in Milwaukee it is always "cooler by the lake!"

And, if you just need to see it for yourself, you can get a peak of the lakefront weather by visiting the WEATHER-Watch 12 Weather-Cam. But remember, this site only works during the daylight hours!
