LAKEFRONT FESTIVAL OF ARTS ANNOUNCES QUAD/GRAPHICS AND
MILWAUKEE MAGAZINE AS ITS FIRST PRESENTING SPONSOR
History-making
announcement helps mark 45th anniversary celebration
MILWAUKEE (May 24,
2007) – Friends of Art, a support
group of the Milwaukee Art Museum, today announced Quad/Graphics and
Milwaukee Magazine as the presenting sponsor for the 2007 Lakefront Festival
of Arts (LFOA). This is the first time that the festival has had a
presenting sponsor since it started in the early 1960s. The event, regarded
as one of the nation’s premier juried art festivals, will mark its 45th
anniversary on June 15 to 17 on the grounds along Art Museum Drive in front
of the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Santiago Calatrava-designed addition.
“Quad/Graphics and Milwaukee Magazine have been champions of Milwaukee for
decades and their commitment to the Lakefront Festival of Arts has been
something Friends of Art has cherished for many years,” said Beth Hoffman,
director of Friends of Art events and programs for the Museum. “We are
thrilled to have such a pillar of the community as our first presenting
sponsor for this exciting event.”
The annual art show, which benefits the Museum’s Art Acquisition and
Exhibition Fund, welcomes more than 170 leading artists working in a wide
variety of media from around the nation to exhibit and sell their work. More
than 50,000 attendees are expected at this year’s event. The festival
includes demonstrations, live entertainment, a college-student art show,
silent auction, Milwaukee Magazine Wine Garden, children’s stage and other
activities along with food and refreshments from local vendors.
“Our mission at Quad/Graphics and Milwaukee Magazine has always been to
honor and recognize what is unique about Milwaukee and its people. Signing
on as the presenting sponsor for what has become a nationally revered
institution in our community was a natural choice,” said Betty Quadracci,
Milwaukee Magazine president and publisher and a founder of Quad/Graphics.
“As a supporter of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the local art scene, we
couldn’t have chosen a better event to sponsor than Lakefront Festival of
Arts.”
